BASIC MEDIATION FOR PROFESSIONALS
Course Objectives:
The interactive training courses train practical and effective mediation skills applicable in many fields. The participants will learn and practice critical skills in conflict resolution, interest-based negotiations, reflective listening, facilitation, and structured problem-solving. The course involves participation in five-day (40 hours) training workshops followed by observation mediation cases and practices mediation experience at the field. Role-play scenarios will focus on conflicts involving employment, civil rights, contracts, and more. The basic mediation program consists of the core concept of mediation, understanding of the nature of ADR and mediation mechanism, role and functions of the mediator.

At a minimum, a basic mediation training curriculum will typically cover the following subjects:
This course offers basic mediation training through role-playing, lectures, exercises, case histories, and demonstrations of disputes and conflict resolution. This training is also utilizing large and small group discussion, interactive exercises and coached role-playing. Training should provide at least three opportunities for a participant to play a mediator in coached role-playing under the supervision of an experienced mediator, who will provide feedback to support and facilitate learning.
Application and costs
Participants will be selected from a wide range backgrounds and experience in peacebuidling, legal and alternative dispute resolution, conflict resolution and mediation, in particular from the government, civil society organization, associations, and private sector.
The fee for the course is USD 150, inclusive of tuition, stationary, and coffee breaks (to be paid in full before the course starts). The number of participants is limited to 25, and we encourage you to apply or register for the course and further information.
